Art has the power to transform, liberate, and awaken - but for many, the word "art" comes with baggage. Too often, we associate creativity with talent, skill, or mastery, which leaves countless people feeling excluded or unworthy of the title "artist". Ericson Proper's Intuiti::Process is a radical shift from this narrative. It's not about talent, training, or producing something "worthy". Instead, it's a journey into the intuitive, a space where anyone - regardless of background - can connect with their innate creativity and experience the joy of self-expression.
This three-part series will guide through the Intuiti::Process, focusing on three distinct levels of practice: Intuitive Painting, Intuitive Collage, and Found Poetry.
Intuitive Painting: In this foundational session, participants will use chalk pastels to explore art as a channel for emotional release. The focus is entirely on the process, not the product, encouraging participants to let go of judgment and immerse themselves in the moment. By shifting away from the need to create "good" art, they'll discover a new sense of creative freedom and self-expression. This session will include all materials, instruction, hands-on creative exploration, and a group reflection to foster connection and insight. This session will be held on Feb 22, 2025 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am.
Intuitive Collage: Building on the principles of intuitive painting, participants will learn to create collages using torn or cut paper, magazines, and photos. With a simple process - view, intuitively select, glue to the page, and repeat within a 21-minute time frame - this practice taps into the unconscious, revealing patterns, images, and stories that words alone often can't express. This session will be held on March 1, 2025 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Participants are asked to bring a pair of scissors or an exacto knife; all other materials supplied.
Found Poetry: The final session brings the intuitive flow of collage into the realm of words. Participants will layer simple, evocative text over their collages, forming poetic phrases that unearth and articulate what lies beneath the surface. This practice invites participants to express their unique voice in new ways, blending visual and verbal creativity. This session will be held on March 8, 2025 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. All materials supplied.
